Obituary

Judson L. Rudgers, 37, of Albany, NY passed away at his home on June 13, 2021.
Judson was born in Frederick, MD on June 10, 1984 to Nathan Rudgers and Nancy Boyle.
Judson was an information technology specialist working for the Information Technology Services Agency of New York State.

Judson was the definition of living life to the fullest. He was intelligent, courageous, caring, and absolutely hilarious. The impact he had on the people he encountered daily was truly astounding. Once you met the brightness in the world that was Judson, you never forgot him.
Judson was a culinary master and inventor of the hotdog bowl, cookie cup, and heartburn sandwich.
As a longtime member of the Buffalo Bills Mafia, Judson was the proud owner of a knock-off Darryl Talley and Steve Tasker jerseys. He was well known for creative fantasy football (team) names and for employing the “draft only Bills players” strategy (with mixed results).
A natural athlete, Judson was inducted into the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his part as a member of a state record-breaking swim relay team. He was nominated for All-American honors for that effort.  He also rowed on the successful BH-BL Crew team, and was in the B Boat that won a State Championship in 2005.  On the swim blocks, he was an early adopter of the floss dance move, a true trend setter.

Judson was a National Merit Scholar and a 2009 graduate of Cornell University, Judson was a brother of the AEPi Fraternity, Cornell University chapter.
He aspired to travel to space but ultimately settled for many rounds of the board game Terraforming Mars.
As a fashion innovator, he was the creator of the “Burnt Hills Smart Casual” style (look it up). Many also considered him a spokesman of sorts for Crocs.
An expert waterman, Judson was an avid whitewater kayaker and tuber. Leader of the BH Tubing Group and Director of Safety Meetings.
Judson had a legendary voice and was a member of several local bands including: Headband Jack, The J3 Experience, The Sugar Hold and the BattenKillers. He was the frequent winner of karaoke competitions and everyone’s hearts.
Judson was predeceased by his Grandparents Lyman and Norma Rudgers and his Aunt Erna Loewen-Rudgers.
He is survived by his loyal canine companion Bosworth, his Mother Nancy Boyle of Lakeland, Fl. His Father Nathan Rudgers and Step-Mother Eileen Rudgers of Pavilion, NY, his Sisters, Lyla (Dan) Furey of Crofton, MD, and Bridget Rudgers and Willie Hodel of Fremont, CA, his new nephew Colden Patrick Furey, his Step Sisters Jessica Cutcliffe of Rochester, NY and Melissa (Peter) Franz and Step Nephews Quinn and Connor Franz of Rochester, NY.  Judson is also survived by his Grandparents Robert and Carol Boyle of Marco Island, FL, numerous Aunts and Uncles and 27 cousins who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 24, 2021 at Noon at the Burnt Hills Rowing Association Boat House in Alplaus, NY. Contributions will be accepted in Judson’s memory to establish a scholarship for young disadvantaged rowers.
