Molain D Gilmore

September 15, 1952 — February 11, 2024

Schenectady

Molain Deborah Gilmore passed away Febuary 11, 2024 at Albany Medical Center. Born September 15, 1952 in Manhattan, NY to David C. Gilmore and Clarette Petty. Molain attended Lady of Our Lord school in New York City. Jamaica High School in Jamaica Queens and attended Suny U Albany College where she got a bachelors degree in Theater. Molain was the owner of Environmental Asbestos Abatement and worked with Minority Contractors.  Molain worked closely with Schenectady Inner City Mission and was on the Board of Directors and the Hamilton Hill Neighborhood Association. It’s fitting Molain left in Febuary Black History Month. Molain was all about her history and her people. Leading the way sounding the alarm on allocation of funds  for Schenectady. How we can get the funds and make our community better. Molain was an activist in her own right. Molain became a member of Refreshing Spring Church in 1985. Thirty nine years she was a member and served on the church board for 34 of those 39 years. Molain was also the Program Director of Refreshing Spring Child Daycare. Molain was involved in every event and fundraiser often the first to be there to set up and the last to leave as she helped to clean up.  Every week she put a new message of encouragement on the announcement board out front of the church to uplift and inform the community as they walked by. Molain served with her whole heart. God and his people. Molain will always be remembered for her boisterous personality which she used to spread the truth about God. Molain was an advocate for truth and holiness and not only could she recite the word but lived it out loud unapologetically. For 39 years she stood like a tree planted by the water in Refreshing Spring Church as a pillar and will be sorely missed. But What you say now she has graduated and moved to the next level so today we Celebrate her in all her grandeur. Molain leaves behind to celebrate her life a sister Cora Gilmore. Goddaughter Jazzmen McCarty, niece Charyn Harris and nephew John Peace. 2 loving Godgrandchildren Charles and Norman Spaulding, and best friend Harriet McCarty and a host of cousins, church family and friends. Molain is predeceased by parents David C Gilmore, and Clarette Petty. Her brothers Donald Gilmore and Walter Herns and sister Roberta Hardy.
