Ilma Esposito, 92 of Chrisler Avenue, Schenectady, NY, entered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Ellis Hospital, with her loving family by her bedside. She was born on February 19, 1931 in Melizzano, BN, Italy. Ilma was educated in Italy and worked for a tobacco company in Dugenta, Italy. In addition, she worked for Bel-Rod Factory and later for Schenectady School District until she retired in 1989. Ilma was devoted to her religion and loved listening to her mass every morning and loved watching the Italian channel. In earlier years, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, crocheting blankets and cooking for her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her. Her family meant the world to her as evidenced by her beautiful smile whenever she was with them. Ilma did not speak much English but everyone that met her felt loved by her. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Fulvio Esposito of 63 years, her parents; Giovanni and Giovanna Mezza and Maria Assunta Mezza; along with her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Domenico and Lucia Giuliano Esposito. Loving mother to Lucia (Francesco) Venturiello, Domenick Esposito, Andreina (Claudio) Giovannone and Giovanna (Vincenzo) D’Elia. Dear sister of the late Fr. Andrea Mezza, the late Vittorio (late Emilia) Mezza, the late Anna (late Vincenzo) Masotti, the late Giovanna (late Antonio) Orlacchio, the late Angelo (Carmelina) Mezza, Teresa (late Carlo) Votta and Filomena (late Biagio) Renzi. Dear sister-in-law of Nicoletta (late Antonio) Franco, the late Raffaele (late Vera) Esposito, the late Remigio (late Giovanna) Esposito, the late Ettore (Maria) Esposito, the late Vittorio (Rosetta) Esposito, Carlo (Maria) Esposito, the late Giuseppe (Assuntina) Esposito, Aldo (Rosalia) Esposito, all of Italy. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Angela (Michael) Zotta, Paolo (Ashely) Venturiello, Ilma (Jeremy) Hills, Carla (Tessa) Venturiello, Orazio, Fulvio, Nicoletta, Irma (Dylan) Synder and Andre D’Elia, Maria (Noah) Koreman, Anthony, Claudio Jr., Silvana, Concetta and Giovanna Giovannone. Loving great-grandmother to Giuliana and Michael Zotta, Milani and Melia Hills, Gianna and Emma Venturiello and Ayla and Alivia Koreman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1:00  pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant Street, Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm at the DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Entombment will take place at St. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, NY. Memorial contribution in Ilma’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Ilma’s family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses for the wonderful care provided to her.
