Cynthia Crandall Demo, 67, of Alexandria Bay, NY, passed away on February 24, 2024. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Demo; granddaughter, Altair Guzman; brother, Steven Crandall; his wife, Kristy Crandall; niece, Allison Karandikar;husband, Abhay, great nephew Isaac; and nephew, Adam Crandall.

 

Cindy was born in Jamestown, NY, in 1956 to the late Robert and Lois Crandall.   She dedicated her life to serving others, particularly through her passion for education and community involvement. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around her.

 

Cindy was a teacher for 30 years in corrections, retiring from Watertown Correctional Facility. In addition to working at the prison, she was an English teacher at Jefferson Community College for over 30 years. She had a profound influence on her students that went beyond the classroom and provided them with the tools and support needed for a brighter future.

 

Cindy’s commitment to her community was evident through her involvement in various organizations and boards. She served tirelessly on boards such as Hearts for Youth and Girls Scouts, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of young individuals and fostering a sense of community spirit. 

 

Furthermore, Cindy’s dedication to public service led her to serve as a Village Trustee in Alexandria Bay, NY, where she advocated for the well-being and prosperity of her community. Her leadership and unwavering dedication to public service impacted the Alexandria Bay community, earning her the respect and admiration of all who knew her.

 

In honoring Cindy’s life, let us carry forward her legacy of compassion, dedication, and service to others. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
